Tour Description
Fuerteventura Wild Ride is a guided bikepacking journey covering approximately 415 kilometers and 5,500 meters of elevation gain, unfolding along coastal trails with breathtaking viewpoints, through deserts and some of the most unique beaches in the world. Imagine an experience on sometimes challenging terrain, surrounded by landscapes so stunning that they fill you with awe at every pedal stroke. Picture the beauty of exploring an island in a way that few do—through a true itinerant journey that allows you to discover every side of a place while also preparing you for even greater adventures.
For us, Fuerteventura has been a place that expanded our technical skills and adaptability, leaving us with an experience engraved in our very being—unforgettable. We will ride over volcanic gravel towards the Tindaya volcanoes, follow coastal dirt tracks leading to tiny fishing villages, climb the spectacular Sicasumbre, cross the legendary desert connecting La Pared to Morro Jable, discover a breathtaking lagoon, and then ascend through lava fields of a thousand colors before heading toward the ancient Mahos civilization of Pozo Negro. This will be a true adventure, softened by the certainty of having a roof over our heads every night.
We will explore an island that, while domesticated in some coastal tourist areas, remains raw and rural at its core. Each stage will be unique, rich in contrasts, and full of surprises. We believe that Fuerteventura represents the true wild side of the Canary Islands, and that’s why we absolutely love it.
Get ready—both physically and mentally—for several hours of gravel riding each day. Equip your bikes with the widest tires possible and bring a mindset filled with determination and childlike curiosity: this is an experience that will stay with you forever!
SUITABLE BIKES: MTB, E-MTB, Adventure Bike. What about a gravel bike? It depends…
We won’t be doing anything extreme, but from our direct experience, a gravel bike may be too limited in certain sections of the route. If you choose to ride a gravel bike, it should be robust, less “performance-oriented” and more adventure-ready, with comfortable geometries, extra-wide tires, and a generous handlebar to ensure comfort and good control.
Overall Difficulty: MEDIUM / HIGH
The difficulty level of the Fuerteventura Wild Ride tour mainly depends on three factors:
• Moderate daily distances, but often challenging terrain
• Moderate elevation gain, but with continuous ups and downs, sometimes steep
• 30% paved roads and 70% highly varied off-road terrain (including some hike-a-bike sections)
